Daily Christian Wisdom
We need to have a mindset of letting God use us to make somebody else’s life better. When we do that, then there's a joy released in us that we’re not ever going to get anywhere else.

Hanging of the Green

This morning is the Hanging of the Greens at our church. I found this picture and shamelessly "snagged" it and would love to see it snow just like this!
I won't be going to the HOTG. This week has been crazy. Dad is in the hospital to observe him and adjust his meds. He had a meltdown. His Alzheimers seems to be progressing. He knew me but there was two of me. While he was talking to me, he also was telling me about how he and mother just came back from Branson but Cheryl didn't want to go and stayed with friends. "She's fourteen, you know, and just didn't want to go." Talk about a "head trip". I was rather blown away. But...he was happy at the moment. I can't ask for more.
We will be having lunch with a young couple that have been visiting. It's nice to have newlyweds (3 years) visit the church. So fun to hear about their dreams and plans!
Not much to say today. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
Plodding through deep snow,
Cheryl

Our Privilege
As God's children, we have the right to claim an inheritance of hope through Jesus. I'ts our privilege to be released from worry as we stay in the word & in prayer. It's our blessings to find deep healing as faith illuminates the road before us. May your life blossom under the Master's hand. Friends believe the good news

Seeds Of Faith
Walking In Faith...
Lord, thank you for letting us ask boldly for the desires of our hearts, but help us mean it when we say we'll bow to your authority. We know you Love Us and you want what is best for us. Amen

Bible Codes, Real or ???

Lately I've heard more and more about Bible codes. It seems that more and more people are getting curious and becoming involved in this. Is it real? Is it fake? Is it people making the Bible say something that they want to hear? I don't know enough about it all to expound, but I do know this.....
Sisters, as I read and study my Bible I realize that I need for the Holy Spirit to enlighten me, as only He can. I can spend the rest of my life studying God's Word and that is plenty to keep me busy! Why, oh why, do folks keep looking for more? We have all we can say grace over in just applying to our lives the Word that God is teaching us! I will go out on a limb and say that I wonder if maybe this "code" thing is another ploy of our enemy to get our eyes off of Jesus and focus on the vague. "Glance this way, look over here," he whispers. NO! Let's keep our eyes steady on the Author and Finisher of our faith! No time for less!
Love and application,
Cheryl

I Found the Quote!....

"A Bible promise is not a verse you grab. It is a verse that grabs you as you, in the context of your need, apply a surrendered life to a consistent study of the scripture."

It Does Matter! Don't Leave Your Brain at the Door!

God intervenes, we realize our condition, we have said yes to Christ and seek to become a Christ-follower. Does it matter how we progress or if we progress? YES!
I have had many well-meaning believers say something like, "Well, I don't need doctrine. That's just a religous thing." All of a sudden, I see the big penalty flag drop, the stop light go red, and all the alarms go off. Warning! Warning!
It would be interesting to do a study on the percentage of those people who really invest their lives in God's Word and seek to know Him as He reveals Himself to us in His Word. I'd venture to say the percentage is low. It makes me very sad.
You see, doctrine does matter. The Word tells us:
1 Timothy 4.16: "Watch your life and doctrine closely. Preserve in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers."
Just to read this scripture sheds light on the folly of not taking God's Word seriously. Do we see real impact in our lives and the lives of others in this scripture? Absolutely!
So, Sisters, when you have a classmate ask you to back up your point with scripture or if one of us blurts out "prove it", you will know that you better do your homework! How will that impact you and those around you? Your grasp on God will be predicated upon God's Word (truth), not on heresay, tradition, or "Granny's" beliefs that were passed down to you. You will know what God has to say and you can be confident in Him! .....and we all know that we need that confidence that only He can give!!
Love and blessed assurance,
Cheryl

Christmas
Patti

Relax. Jesus' birth was orchestrated by the Ultimate Party Planner, God Himself. Think about what that looked like: a small town scandal, a difficult journey with a lukewarm welcome at the end of it, culminating in His Son being born in a grubby stable. Hardly the sort of event that would make anybody's Best Party of the Year list. On the surface, it was all wrong. According to God's plan, it was perfect. This Christmas, let's encourage on another to be a little more like Mary (Martha's sister, not Jesus' mom) and focus on what's really important. So your home doesn't look like a magazine cover. So your dinner doesn't look like a Norman Rockwell painting. So your rendition of O Holy Night doesn't sound like Sandi Patty's. So what? Enjoy the season. Celebrate the gift, not the wrapping. Jesus -- the ultimate "Good Thing."

Daily Christian Wisdom
You’ve got to believe that God is in control of your life. It may be a tough time but you’ve got to believe that God has a reason for it and he’s going to make everything good.

Encouraging word
"Whoever pursues godliness and unfailing love will find life, godliness and honor. " Proverbs 21:21
I would like for all of us to take a moment this week while we are with our family and friends to remember how lucky we are and how much we hace to be thankful for. With saying that I would like us to remember and pray for the ones that are not as lucky as us. Have a great day everyone. Terri

Re "i"
My thinking on this is that the "i" here is not like saying "I am going to lunch" or "I am going shopping today." It is taking the "i" ATTITUDE out of what we do every day. In other words, get the focus off myself and think about the other person, their circumstances, their thoughts, their ideas, their concerns, etc.

Welcome Sisters!
We finally have our own blog! Yeah! You can leave your comments for each other to see, leave a prayer request, post an event, leave a snip of wisdom or just say "hi"! Be sure not to use last names. Use first names and if we have more than one Cheryl, for example, just add the last name initial. This is to protect the innocent. Did I say "innocent"! LOL! Well...we are covered by His blood!
I am really excited about our new study of Ephesians. I have some wonderful things to share with you! Are you working on Eph. 1:9?? Graph it like we did the others and give me a call if you get stuck. :)
By the way, I wonder if any of you have a sterling Star of David charm??
Girls, I have the new Beth Moore study, "Stepping Up". You can go to this link to learn more about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHt7-e48joE Let me know if you would like to be involved in the study and we can put our heads together to decide when. You will love it!

Love and hugs on this great fall day!
Cheryl
